Position Title: Legal Assistant/Secretary (Union Position)

Minimum Requirements: 

High School Diploma, or equivalent certificate.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

It is the policy of the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office that to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a criminal history/background check and a pre-employment drug test.

Additionally, it is our policy that to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must provide proof of a COVID-19 vaccination card and be fully vaccinated before employment commences.

Duties – including, but not limited to:

  • Provide administrative support to the assigned unit and enhance office effectiveness
  • Handle communication with clients, witnesses, etc.
  • Answer and direct phone calls
  • Maintain contact lists
  • Monitor deadlines
  • Perform other duties, as assigned by management

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • General office practices and procedures including filing, record-keeping, etc.
  • Familiarity with legal documents
  • Excellent organizational and typing skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office 365 products
  • Effective electronic and written communication
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, regulations, and the court system

Ability to: 

  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Communicate with the public via telephone and in person
  • Thorough and detail-oriented
  • Manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Work well independently and as a team member

Residency: Must become a resident of Allegheny County within one (1) year of appointment
